The INSPIRE Unplugged Dialogues is a podcast series where we sit down with gender equality experts, be they academics, researchers, or practitioners, and we discuss issues related to gender, (in)equalities, diversity and inclusion, intersectionality, feminism, and more.
In the first episode, we interviewed Mary Ann Danowitz, Dean Emerita and Professor of Higher Education Emerita at North Carolina State University in the United States, and a member of our Advisory Board. We talked about why creating a more inclusive research and innovation ecosystem is essential, both for making the most out of diverse talent, and for meeting organisations' ethical responsibilities. Mary Ann highlights the importance of fostering environments where people from diverse backgrounds feel valued, fairly rewarded, and able to develop their careers, while also reflecting on the increasingly diverse and globally interconnected societies that research organisations are part of. The conversation also explores how institutions can move beyond simply valuing diversity towards actively creating the conditions for meaningful inclusion and organisational change.
